Vermont - New York - Canada, October 2015 - Part 4

October 9, 2015

All good things come to an end.  We had 6 wonderful nights camping in 3 different Vermont State Parks.  The hurricane weather stayed away.  We didn't get the full sun most of the time, which makes a big difference taking photos of the changing leaves.  However, it was dry, except for 2 brief one minute sprinkles on Wednesday night as we were sitting at the picnic table.  It was gone quickly.  We awoke to heavy rain around 4:30 a.m. this morning.  It was a good thing that we had everything packed in the cargo carrier and all that was left was to walk the dog and lower the roof.  Both of us had our complete rain suits with us so we were dry.  It rained the entire drive from Vermont to Cooperstown, NY.  We took all types of back roads through Vermont into New York on our way to Cooperstown.  It would have been a spectacular drive if it was sunny.  We arrived in Cooperstown around noon and checked in at our campground, located our site and headed for downtown.

We had lunch at Doubleday's Cafe with a couple of beers before going to the Hall of Fame.  The Hall of Fame was my #1 Bucket List to do.

Tinker to Evans to Chance

I grew up a Cub fan and watch as many Cub games as I can.  Maybe this will be their year to reach the World Series.  We lost 2 great former players this year, Ernie Banks and Yogi Berra

Dave Winfield went to the University of Minnesota where he was an All-American basketball player and baseball player (Pitcher/Fielder).  He was the MVP of the 1973 College World Series, Minnesota blew a 9 run lead and lost to Arizona State for the National Title.  Winfield was drafted by the San Diego Padres, ABA, NBA, and NFL.  San Diego played him in the field and obviously there is a reason he is in the Hall of Fame.  Back in 1973 Dave Winfield flew from the NIT in New York to Texas to meet the baseball team and he pitched.  I was 0-2 against him.  These were their first games out of the chute and we had played maybe 15 games.  They swept us and finished 2nd in the country.

We finished and went back to the camper to take Sarah for a walk.  We went to Cooley's Stonehouse Tavern for some beers and an early dinner.  Great Wings and beer from Brewery Omme Gang.

To be continued in Part 5
