We love Telluride. This is our second treip and this time the colors were the best we have seen. We camped at Town Park Campground. It is an easy 5-10 minute walk into town, and there are several good hiking trails that start at or near Town Park.
We drove in on Last Dollar Road. The leaf peeps were out in full force, making the drive harder. Many drivers were over their heads on this four wheel drive road, which caused some minor traffic jams, as others coaxed them through or to turn around. All part of the day. We had hoped to camp at the large dispersed site, but it was full of cars. We found a great USF Campground south of Telluride on Hwy. 145, Matterhorn Campground.
We had breakfast four (4) times at our favorite place, Butcher & The Baker. We had dinner at a couple more favorites, La Cocina De Luz, and Floradora Saloon. We grabbed lunch at Mountain Village at Tracks Cafe & Bar, riding the free gondola.
